December 4, 1936 - April 5, 2012
Mr. Norman Van Otterloo, age 75, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at his residence.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, April 9, at 10:30am, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Jonathan Opgenorth and the Rev. Donald Lenderink will officiate.
Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Norman Lloyd was born on December 4, 1936, in Sioux Center, the son of Steven and Anna (Van Otterloo) Van Otterloo. He was raised at Orange City, where he attended the Christian School. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.

On September 12, 1963, he married Linda Jean Vander Meer at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. They made their home in Orange City, where he was employed at Silent Sioux for sixteen years and at K-Products for twenty years.

Mr. Van Otterloo was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church and the Pressman-Kosters American Legion Post, both in Orange City.

He enjoyed playing and watching baseball and softball games, especially when his children and grandchildren were playing. From 1977 to 1982, he managed the Pantry Café men’s fast pitch softball team, and since age 14, he has been an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

"Norm" made many bird houses and squirrel feeders, and he looked forward to watching his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of more than 48 years; a daughter and her husband, Leann and Thomas Steinhauer, of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Jeffrey and Angela Van Otterloo, of Sergeant Bluff; three grandchildren, Alex Steinhauer and Zachary and Zoey Van Otterloo; a brother and his wife, Stanley and Muriel Van Otterloo, of Orange City; a sister and her husband, Audrey and Jim Mouw, of Buffalo, Wyoming; a sister-in-law, Arloa Van Otterloo, of Colorado; a brother-in-law, Robert Groen, of Sibley; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albertus "Bud" and Leon Van Otterloo; and three sisters, Joyce Roskamp, Arlys Groen, and Linda Joan Van Otterloo, in infancy.
