Mrs. L. R. Frescoln, 78, of Hawarden, died June 29 in a Hawarden nursing home.

Services were at 1 p.m., July 2 in the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marion Bloodworth and the Rev. Arthur J. DeNeui officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George with the Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden in charge.

Mrs. Frescoln, the former Mildred Freerksen, was born Sept. 29, 1897 in Forreston, Ill. She was married to Earl Garthwaite in 1921. Mr. Garthwaite died in 1945. She was married to L. R. Frescoln, April 22, 1948 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Mrs. Frescoln operated a women's clothing store in Hawarden from 1945 to 1948. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Bonnie) Dowdey of Hawarden; a son, James Garthwaite, address not known; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Freda Engle of George and Mrs. Esther Hauge of Las Vegas, Nev.
