Hawarden Independent, April 22, 1976

Mrs. Fred Hansen, 79, Alcester, died April 18 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were at 2 p.m., April 21 at the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Milo Sheldon officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery was under the direction of the Wass Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hansen, the former Ethel Campbell, was born June 2, 1896 in Elk Point and was married on May 5, 1915 in Centerville. The couple farmed in the Alcester-Beresford area except for several years when they lived in Omaha. They moved to Alcester in 1954. Mr. Hansen died in 1966.

Survivors include four sons: Donald of Manteca, Calif.; William of Lewistown, Mont.; Fred of Akron, Iowa, and Robert of LaJolla, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Lorraine) Huff of Akron; Mrs. Wally (Thelma) Topham of Chula Vista, Calif.; Mrs. Robert (Betty) Johnson of Morton Grove, Ill.; Mrs. Fern Gregory of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Gene (Lois) Hammitt of North Highlands, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Gitchell of Binghamton, N.Y., and a brother, Everett Campbell of Akron.
