Ellsworth P. Hoekstra, 65, of Maurice, died Wednesday, April 8 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City following a lingering illness. Services were held Saturday, April 11 at the First Reformed Church, Maurice. Rev. Garret Docter officiated. Burial was in Sherman Township Cemetery, Maurice, under direction of Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Mr. Hoekstra, "Allie," was born Dec. 27, 1923 at Struble, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Wiersma) Hoekstra. He was a lifelong resident of Maurice and was a carpenter until his retirement. He was a baptized member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice, and was a graduate of the Maurice High School.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Herman (Marian) Wassenaar of Mossyrock, Wash., Mrs. Robert (Gertrude) Ver Mulm of Maurice, and Mrs. Albert (Lyda) Dekker of Orange City; and one brother, Harry of Ireton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jake.
