Ed Heald Dies At Age of 74
Early Day Resident of Hawarden Succumbs in Hospital Following Heart Attack
Ed Heald, 74, of Silverton, Ore., an early day resident of Hawarden, died in a hospital Saturday following a heart attack. Mr. Heald left Hawarden 42 years ago and went to Silverton to live.

He was born May 29, 1874, in Calliope and for 32 years made his home here. He married Lillian Crowther in 1901. As a young man, Mr. Heald enlisted in the First-South Dakota infantry and saw much active service in the Philippines. He was severely wounded in one leg and received a medical discharge. Prior, to going to Oregon he served several years on the Hawarden police force. After going to Oregon he was employed by lumber companies until he retired.

Survivors are the widow; two daughters, mrs. Berger Feneide and Mrs. Curly Iverson, both of Portland OR; onsister Mrs. Ed Vandervien of Los angeles; three brothers A. G. of Hawarden, and Clyde and Clifford of Denver, and one granddaughter. He was the brother-in-law of Mrs. H. C. Scott of Hawarden.
