Clarice S. Moore, 97, of Hawarden, died Saturday, Dec. 12, in a hospital in Hawarden.
Services were held at 10 a.m.Tuesday, Dec. 15, in the Dow Funeral Home with the Rev. Fritz Mellberg officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, Dec. 14.
Pallbearers were Norman Degen, Harvey Peters, Roswell Otis, Perry Bader, Jules Johnson and James Huenink.
The honorary Pallbearers were: E. V. Slife, Sr., Glenn Hansen, Dr. E. M. Eneboe, Rex Truesdell and Mac Thorson. Mrs. Moore, the daughter of Gus and Matilda Carlson Harholt, was born Oct. 21, 1890, in Calliope. The youngest of four children, she spent her entire life in Hawarden. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1908 and attended Normal Training School, at Elk Point, SD.

She became a rural school teacher in several schools around Hawarden and primarily, the
Scott School, in Union County, SD. She later worked several years in the J.C. Stickel Company Drug Store in Hawarden until she married George L. Moore November 12, 1919. He died
July 10,1976 Mrs. Moore, along with her husband, was a charter member of the Hawarden Golf Club and was instrumental in getting the old railroad car-repair barn moved to the present site as part of the club house. The couple were both familiar faces on the local and surrounding golf courses, both playing well up into their later 80's.

The couple had three children, all of whom died shortly after birth. In 1928, they adopted a son, John, who grew up in Hawarden and who now resides with his family in Elkhart, IN.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the Associated Church and a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and over a 50- year member of the organization. She was a charter member of the Hawarden
Golf Club
Survivors include a son, John, of Elkhart, IN, and two grandchildren, Sara Ann Smith and John Stevens Moore.
