Matilda Vander Tuig,
Matilda Vander Tuig, 87, of Primghar passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at Primghar Care Center. Services were held on Thursday morning, Sept. 13, 2007 at American Reformed Church in Primghar, with the Rev. Dennis Hietbrink officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Matilda, daughter of Bill and Grace (Uittenbogaard) Kreykes, was born on June 6,1920, in Hospers. She received her education at Hospers Christian Schools in Hospers. On Oct. 9,1941, she was united in marriage to Mitch Vander Tuig in Sanborn. The couple settled in Primghar, where they lived their entire married life. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a mother.
The couple enjoyed traveling, and for 22 years they wintered in Arizona. She moved to the
Primghar Care Center, where she made her home, in January 2001. She was a member of American Reformed Church. She taught Sunday School, catechism and Bible School for many years. She was active in the Reformed Church Women's Ministries. She liked to do crafts and handwork. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 65 years, Mitch of Primghar; their children, Larry Vander Tuig of Gilbert, Ariz., Linda and her husband Doug Walvoord of Primghar and Bob Vander Tuig and his wife Becky of Spencer; nine grandchildren, Kris, Tracey, Michelle, Brian, Janean, Angie, Janelle, Kyle and Tyler; 16 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jenna, Alex, Shea, Zachary, Grace, Kaelyn, Emily, Jacob, Mason, Reagan, Cole, Brock, Alec, Kaitlyn and Brennan; brother and his wife Bill and Jean Kreykes of Eastham, Mass.; four sisters, Arlene and her husband Mike Rota of Seal Beach, Calif., Edna Winkel of Sheldon, Betty and her husband Jim Crosby of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Bonnie Admire of Primghar; sister-in-law Ida Kreykes of Sanborn; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Kathy Vander Tuig; her parents brothers Arnold and Harold; and three brothers-in-law, Bud Wilch, Richard Admire and Harold Winkel.
