BOYDEN—Logan Arthur Vanden Brink, 85, Boyden, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 at Sanford Senior Care Sheldon. Services were Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 at United Presbyterian Church in Boyden, with the Rev. Martin McDaniel officiating. Burial was at Sheridan Township
Cemetery near Boyden, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Logan Vanden Brink, son of Steve and Gertrude (Rowenhorst) Vanden Brink, was born Feb. 11,1922, in Boyden, where he was raised and graduated from high school. He graduated
from Sheldon Junior College and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Beverly Bensmiller on July 6,1946, in San Francisco. They made their home in Boyden, where
he owned and operated Vanden Brink Insurance. He resided at Sanford Senior Care Sheldon for the past three months. He was active in the community, serving as city clerk and as secretary for the board of education of the Boyden-Hull School District, both for 46 years. He also was an active member of United Presbyterian Church and belonged to the William Monster American Legion Post and the Kiwanis Club in Boyden. He served on the boards of Okoboji Bible Conference and the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. He enjoyed visiting with people and spending time at Lake Okoboji.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly "Bev" Vanden Brink of Boyden; a son, Paul and Steph Vanden Brink of Des Moines; a daughter, Nancy Franken of Sioux Center; four grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dot and Marvin Diekevers of Hull.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Franken.
