Mrs. Richard "Bud" (Bonnie L.) Meis, 68, of Granville, formerly of Vermillion, S.D., died Tuesday, May 3, 1994 at a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services were held Friday, May 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. The Re v. Paul Matchan officiated. Burial was in Bluff View Cemetery at Vermillion. Fisch Funeral Home of Reinsen and Iverson-Siecke FuneralHome of Vennillion were in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie was born Oct. 24, 1925 in rural Anthon, the daughter of John and Cassie "Pearl" (Green) Bennett. She was raised in the Anthon area and graduated from Anthon High School in 1943. She then moved to Vermillion. She married Vernon Steenholdt Dec. 30, 1951 in Vennillion where they made their home. She did babysitting in the Vermillion area for many years.

He died Sept. 17, 1978. From 1979-81, she was employed with Residential Services at the University of South Dakota. She married Richard "Bud" Meis May 9,1981 in Granville where they made their home. Mrs. Meis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary of Vermillion and the Senior Citizens and VFW Auxiliary of Granville.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard Vernon Steenholdt and his wife Susanne of Vermillion; a daughter and her husband, Karen Kay and Gerry Henriksen of Hazen, N.D.; two stepsons and their wives, Roger and Lynette Meis of Paullina and Steve and Patti Meis of Orange City; four stepdaughters and their husbands, Carol and Richard Ellington of Plattsmouth,Neb., Joyce and Paul Wray of Ames, Mary and Fred Cerwick of Sioux Falls and Karen and Tim Pottebaum of Hospers; four grandchildren; 17stepgrandchildren;asister, Mrs. Edmund (Dorothy) Burbridge of Sioux City; a brother, David and his wife, Mary Bennett of Cherokee; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn and her husband, Daryl Silkenson of Sioux Falls, S.D. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. David (Nancy) Brandon.
