Dennis Vis, 56, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Madison, WI of apparent heart problem. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 15 at United Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Rev. James Sinke officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday until 5pm at Porter Funeral Home and 6-8 pm with family at United Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hope Haven or Rock Valley Christian School.

Dennis Lee Vis was born January 1, 1956 at Sioux Center, IA, son of Gerald and Edith (TeSlaa)
Vis. He went to Rock Valley Christian Grade School, graduated Western Christian High School
at Hull, IA, and earned a degree at Dordt College at Sioux Center, IA. Dennis married Karen
Hoekstra on February 21, 1975 at Orange City, IA. They lived at Minneapolis, M N from 1977
until moving to Rock Valley in October of 2011. Dennis was a Sales Representative for Attema
Marketing of Burnsville, MN.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Karen; sons, Jeremy Vis serving in US Army at Seoul,
Korea, Joseph Vis serving in US Army at Fort Bragg, NC; brother, Larry (Mary) Vis of Rock
Valley; sisters, Lorna (Darwin) Tiedeman of Hull, IA, Marcia Vis of Overland Park, KS; in-laws,
Joan (Jim) Horstman of Sioux Center, Marge (Arnie) Van Gelder of Orange City, Gladys
(Harold) Hoekstra of Orange City, Virginia Hoekstra of Kenosha, WI.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Edith Vis.
