Sally Irene Hofland, 72, of Hawarden went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2012 after battling many health issues. Funeral
services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will start at noon on Tuesday with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Sally was born August 7, 1939, the daughter of Olive (Conklin) Ebbinga and Paul Ryan in Sioux
Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Washington High School. Sally lived most of her adult life in Hawarden. Sally was a waitress and cook at a number of cafes and later head cook and site manager at the Hawarden Senior Center before retiring in 2005. On April 5, 1997, she was united in marriage to her long-time companion, Joel Hofland in Las Vegas, NV. Sally was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was also a great cook and enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family and friends. Joel and Sally raised a special grandson, Tony Jurrens.
In addition to her husband, also grateful for having shared her life are 2 sons, Roger (Dawn)
Meinerts of Rock Rapids, IA and Rodney Meinerts of Junius, SD; 5 daughters, Rhonda (Duane)
Reineke of Livermore, IA, Robyn (Troy)Ogan of Hawarden, IA, Julie (Craig) Maloney of Freeman, SD, Jolene Topete of Hawarden and Jana (Valentin) Topete of Hawarden, IA; 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-sons, Mark (Laura) Hofland of LeMars, IA and Brad
(Sara) Hofland of Hawarden, IA; 1 step-daughter, Kristi Hofland of LeMars, IA, that took
exceptional care for her during her last days; 2 sisters, Susan Peterson and Sheryl Roth of Sioux
Falls, SD; 2 sister-in-laws, Sandi McConniel of Sioux Falls, SD and Betty Ryan of Salem, OR;
and a host of other family and close friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; special mother-in-law, Cynthia Hofland; 2 brothers,
Ronald Ryan and Sheldon McConniel; and brother-in-law, Dale Peterson.
