Margaret Reekers
Mrs. Margaret Reekers, 89, of Orange City passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at the Regency Park Nursing Home in Jefferson. There will be a funeral
service on Thursday, Sep. 13, at 10 a.m., at First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Ter Beest will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Margaret Adrianna was born on December 31, 1917 Alton, the daughter of Anthony "Tony" and Jennie (Beltman) Schuller. She was raised in the Alton/Newkirk area. She graduated from the Northwestern Junior College in Orange City and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
She then was a teacher in one room schools near Linn Grove and Sutherland for several years. On June 1, 1946, she married Arthur Lawrence Reekers at her parents's farm home. They farmed together on the north east edge of Orange City, where she was also a homemaker. Art passed away on June 25,1987, in Sioux City. In 2002, Mrs. Reekers moved to Jefferson, where she made her home near a daughter. In October of 2005, she transferred to the Regency Park Nursing Home, where she passed away. She was a member of First Reformed Church. She enjoy reading, sewing, cooking, baking and traveling, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Arie and Nora Reekers of Lawton, Shirley and Gary Haupert of Jefferson, Sylvia and Jeff LeMaster of Marquette, Mich., and Ruth and Mark Kleinwolterink of Sheldon; eight grandchildren, Chad Reekers, Curt Reekers, Jason Haupert, Jack and her husband Sam Langstaff, Dan LeMaster, Derek LeMaster, Sean Kleinwolterink and Michaela Kleinwolterink great-grandchildren Carter and Nickolas Reekers; sister Violet Mouw of Orange City; brothers and their wives Henry and Alberta Schuller of Alton and Dr. Robert Harold and Arvella Schuller of Garden Grove, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sister and her husband, Jessamine and Gerrit Vander Pol
and brothers-in-law Henry Mouw and John Reekers and their wives Henrietta and Leona.
