Sadie Plantage
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa; Sadie Plantage, 91, of Sioux Center died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at
Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Revs.
Raymond Rathburn and Marilyn Rensink officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Sadie, who was actually named Sarah, was born Nov. 23, 1909, in Hull, N.D., the daughter- of Ed P. and Jane (Moerman) Nieuwsma. On Dec. 22, 1925, Sadie married William Plantage in Hull, N.D. They made their home in Sioux Center, where, he passed away Dec. 12, 1958.
Sadie worked in area homes and was also a cook at the Sioux Center Community Hospital for
25 years. She became a resident of Pleasant Acres on Aug. 6, 2001. She was a member of Central
Reformed Church, where she participated in the women's organizations and faithfully attended
Sunday School. She was a foster grandparent at Hope Haven in Rock Valley, Iowa, for over 20
years.
Survivors include her son and his wife, William E. and Esther Plantage of Sioux Center; a
daughter and her husband, Betty and Eugene Dornbush of Huron, S.D.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Anita and David Bomgaars, Brent and Lori Plantage, Dan and Cindy Dornbush, Darold and Jill Dornbush and Deanna and Jeff Kingery; 11 great-grandchildren, Megan, Christopher and Curtis Bomgaars, Dillon and Drew Plantage, Dustin, Kylee and Ethan Dornbush, Katie and Maggie Dornbush and Karissa Kingery; four sisters, Genevieve Kienow of Aberdeen, S.D., Agnes Brenner of Orient, N.Y., Kay Kienow of Aberdeen and Celia Vander Vorste of Bismark, N.D.; and several special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant
grandson, William Ira Dornbush; three brothers, Pete, Comie and Elmer Nieuwsma; and two
sisters, Ella Bennet and Annie Vermeer.
