SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Henrietta Riphagen, 84, of Sioux Center died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in
Maurice, Iowa, with the Rev. Wayne Sneller and the Rev. Mark Haverdink
officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Oolman
Funeral Home in Orange City, Iowa. Mrs. Riphagen was born-Feb. 17, 1915, in,rural Maurice, the daughter of Frans and Marie (Van Beek)
Vander Broek. She was raised in rural Maurice. She married Gerrit H. Riphagen in Sept. 1, 1949, in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Maurice. She was employed as the head cook at Maurice Public School, which later became Maurice-Orange City Community Schools, for 25 years.
Mr. Riphagen died Nov. 3, 1980, in Sioux City. Mrs. Riphagen entered Franken Manor of Sioux Center in 1982 and entered Sioux Center Community Nursing Home in October 1999. She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she participated in senior cjtizens activities. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and watching ball games.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Baulah and her husband, Clarence Harms, of Hawarden, Iowa, Sharla and her husband, Paul De Jager, of Maurice and Fay Masters of Osborne, Wash.; two stepdaughters- in-law, Helen Vlieger of Chino, Calif., and Elaine Riphagen of Artesia, Calif.; a stepson-in-law, David Vande Brake of Sacremento, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 43 greatgrandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two stepsons, Vernon and Marlyn Riphagen; a stepdaughter, Arloa Vande Brake; seven brothers, Gerrit, Tony, Frank, William, Peter, Henry and Martin Vander Broek; and five sisters, Anna Van Roekel, Mae Smit, Bertha Mulder, Francis Mulder and Dena Vander Broek.
