John Sybesma
John Sybesma, 86, of Sioux Center died on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, IA. Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, Aug. 3, at First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with Rev. Mark Verbruggen officiating. Interment followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
John was born on June 13, 1921, on a farm near Perkins Corner to Syne and Christina (Broek) Sybesma. He attended Perkins Christian School. John was a farmer and lived on the family farm
near Perkins. On May 10, 1946, John married Jeanette Scholten. They had eight children. Jeanette passed away in 1988. John moved to Sioux Center in 1990. In April of 2007, he became a resident of Prairie View Home in Sanborn. John was a life-long member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He was a strong supporter of Christian education. He loved his children and grandchildren and prayed for them all by name every day.
Left to cherish his memory are six sons, Jon (Pat) of Sanborn, Carl (Teresa) of Rock Valley, Ron (Janelle) of Newton, Kan., Les (Lila), Dwight of Sioux Center and Vernon of Sioux Center;
daughters Helen (George) Andringa and Rachel (Kevin) Hansen, each of Clinton; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; as well as sisters Margaret Altena of Sioux Center and Christina Rens of Hull; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, granddaughter Kelly Soo Sybesma, his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
