Winifred Emily Beach was born in New Dundee, Ontario, Canada Oct 31st, 1868. With her family (Isaac and Emily Bonham Beach) she came to Alton IA, in 1876, and to Hull in 1885. She lost her eyesight in infancy but at the age of six years, she was operated on for cataracts; this partially restored her sight. Her early education was gained under these discouraging curcumstances, in the public schools. At the age of 17, she went to Vinton college for the blind, and there pursued her highter studies.

Her health failed however, and she was compelled to leave before ompleting her course. Her first serious illness was in February, 1894, she went to California, returning October 19th. The climate did not do for her what so many found and anxious friends had hoped it would, in fact she was a great sufferer while there.....
In the winter of 1889 she untied with the Cong'l church of Hull and has been a member ever since. She was a member of the first King's Daughters circle organized in Hull, and was also a member of the Christian Endeavor Society.

The funeral occurred from the home of her siter Mrs. De Groot and the interment in the Rock Rapids cemetery. The white casket, flower laden, was borne by her three brothers and cousin; and where they laid her down where loving hands had gone before with ferns and flowers, and unto the very last the love she so well deserved, went with its tokens. Rev. Chase, her pastor at Hull conduted the funeral.

(From information found on line, her parents were Isaac William Beach bron 3 Jan 1843 Kemptville, Ontario Canada died 1 Jan 1922 Sheldon IA. Mother was emily Bonham 1846-1920. Winifred was born Oct 31, 1868 Dundee Ont. Can. died 12 Feb 1900 Rock Rapids IA.
