Ireton, la.:—Funeral services were held for James Meyer, 26, former Ireton resident at the Melvern Methodist church on March 3,' at 2 p. m. Rev. Dains of the Trinity Methodist church of Topeka, Kansas officiating. Internment was. in the Melvern, Kansas cemetery beside his infant daughter.

James Meyer was born May 18, 1926, at Hawarden and was baptized at the age of 4 .weeks and became a member of the Methodist church at the age of 14. He received his education in the public schools at Ireton. On Jan. 21, 1944, he enlisted in the navy and served in the Pacific theater until honorably discharged at . Camp Shoemaker, Calif., on May 4, 1946. On Sept. 12, 1945 he was united in marriage with Miss Edna Mary Davis at San Diego, Calif., while both were in the service.

To this union four children were born, James, jr., Dorothy Lee, Janet Caroline and Edward Ralph, all of whom survive except Janet, who died in infancy. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Meyer of Eureka, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Helen Cyr of Oreata, Calif., two brothers, Francis Meyer of Chippewa Falls, Wis., 1st Lt. Keith Meyer of Camp Irwin, Barstow, .Calif., two Grandmothers, Mrs. Alma Meyer of Sibley and Mrs. Belle Rockwood of Eureka, Calif. He was iv member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
