Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink passed away at her home on Friday, January 7 following an illness of diabetes and complications. She had attained the age of 64 years and 5 months. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tjalling Wagenaar, was born in West Geest, Netherlands in 1874. The family came to America in 1890 and settled in Sioux County. On March 3, 1893 she was united in marriage to Gerrit Harmelink. This union was blessed with 11 children, 2 preceding their mother in death. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Minnie, Mrs. Ralph Wichers, Hawarden; Susan, Mrs. Ed Van Tubergen of Matlock; Gertrude, Mrs. Sam Post of Sheldon; Charles of Ashton; Joe of Middleburg; Simon of Alton; Henry of Hospers; Cornie of Alton; and Dorothy at home. Other survivors are 23 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Simon of Wagner, S.D. and Case of Volga, S.D. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Christian Reformed church, with Rev. M. R. Bronkema officiating.

Mother of Mrs. Ralph Wiechers Dies

Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink, mother of Mrs. Ralph Wiechers of Eagle township, passed away at her home in Orange City last Friday at the age of 64 years. The funeral was held at the Christian Reformed church at Orange City Monday afternoon and interment was made in the Orange City cemetery.

Janke Wagenaar was born in the Netherlands in 1847[i.e., 1874] and in 1890 came with other members of her family to America, locating in Sioux county. On March 3, 1893, she was united in marriage with Gerrit Harmelink. Eleven children were born to them but two preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, nine children, 23 grand children and two brothers. In addition to Mrs. Wiechers the other children are: Mrs. Ed. Van Tubergen, Matlock; Mrs. Sam Post, Sheldon; Charles Harmelink, Ashton; Joe Harmelink, Middleburg; Simon Harmelink, Alton; Henry Harmelink, Hospers; Cornie Harmelink, Alton; and Dorothy Harmelink, who is at home with her father.
