Mrs. Wilhelmina Harmelink passed to the Great Beyond Monday afternoon [Oct. 26] at five o'clock at the William De Roo home about four miles northwest of Newkirk. Her death was due to a fall she received while walking in the yard about the De Roo home Friday of last week. In the fall she sustained a rupture of the bowels for which she underwent an operation Monday forenoon in an effort to save her life. However she never rallied from the operation and died at the age of seventyeight years and one month and twentyfour days.

She was born in the Netherlands September second 1830. Her husband died about two years ago. Seven children survive her all of whom live in this vicinity with the exception of Mrs. Ike Wourmhoudt of Pella. The other children are Mesdames Joe Kleinhesselink, William Rexwinkel, Will De Roo and Messrs Charles and Herman and Gerrit Harmelink. All of the children attended the funeral which was held Thursday afternoon from the De Roo home at twelve o'clock and from the Reformed church in Newkirk at one-thirty o'clock. Rev. Schuurmans conducted the last sad rites and the remains rest in the Newkirk cemetery.
