Obituary: Bertha Stephenson McCue Little
Lake Isabella, CA – Bertha Little, age 99, died August 29th, 2007 peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son, Lawrence G. McCue.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa with Father Roger Linnan officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.
Bertha was born June 16, 1908 in Quinn, SD to William and Pearl (Cotton) Stephenson. She married Raymond McCue in Murdo, SD. They made their first home in Kennebec, SD having two children Dolores (Lorry) McCue Wood and Lawrence (Larry) McCue. They moved to Akron, IA and finally settled in Hawarden, IA where they established McCue’s Pool Parlor and Card Club. Ray passed away in Hawarden in 1960. Bertha remarried Wilbur (Small) Little, formerly of Sheldon, IA, in Kerrville, TX on November 8, 1960. Small, his daughter Coyleen and Bertha lived in Kerrville and later retired in Mesa, AZ. Small passed away in 1988.
After the loss of her daughter, Lorry, in 2004 she made her home with her son Larry in Lake Isabella, CA.
Bertha is survived by her son Larry; her daughter Coyleen Little Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; her son-in-law Theordore (Ted) Wood of Sioux Falls, SD; her sister Lura (Andrew-deceased) Brakke of Presho, SD; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents William and Pearl Stephenson; her daughter Dolores Wood; two brothers Caryl and Martin; and her sister Leola Roise preceded her in death.
