HENRY GOSLINGA
Mr. Henry Goslinga, age 81, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, October 22, at 10:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Ouwinga will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Sunday, with the family present from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Henry was born on September 15, 1926, in rural Sioux Center, the son of Tjeerd and Clara (Dykstra) Goslinga. He was raised at Sioux Center.
On June 10, 1949, he married Dorothy E. Van Schepen in Ireton. They made their home in Orange City, where he was a delivery truck driver for the Farmers Cooperative Elevator for over thirty years. Dorothy passed away on June 2, 1984, in Orange City, after almost 35 years of marriage.
On September 27, 1986, he married Martha Dorhout Vander Plas in Sioux Center. They also made their home in Orange City. In early October, he joined her at the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community in Orange City.
Mr. Goslinga was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as a deacon and an elder. He enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona, for eleven years.
Survivors include his wife of more than 21 years; four daughters and their husbands, Donna and Larry De Ruyter, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Jan and Gene Katzenberger, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Sue and Dave Breems, of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Karen and Ben Cook, of Adrian, Minnesota; a son and his wife, Tim and Dawn Goslinga, of Lake Worth, Florida; two step-children and their spouses, Ken and Theresa Vander Plas, of Hawarden; and Karen and Elmer Kooi, of Sioux Center; fourteen grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, 31 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Tillie Bruins, of California; and a brother and his wife, George and Mavis Goslinga, of Alexandria, Minnesota.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Ted Goslinga; and two sisters, Susie Van Velzen and Marie Jongma.
