Betty Droog
Betty Droog, 78, of Sioux Center died Saturday, October 13, at Royale Meadows Care Center in
Sioux Center. A memorial service was Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Del Groen officiating. A private family graveside service was Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Droog was born on December 4, 1928, the only child of Gerrit and Winnie (Hollaar) Haak. She was raised on a farm near Hull, North Dakota. She married Dalton "Dal" Droog on February 22, 1946. They lived in Lynderi, Washington, for several years before returning to Hull to farm. In 1967, they moved to Sioux County, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Shortly after moving to Sioux Center, she nearly died as a result of severe head trauma in a fall down a set of basement stairs. The Droogs purchased the Standard Oil station in Sioux Center with Dal’s brother and sister-inlaw, John and Grace Droog. They operated it for many years. She served as the bookkeeper for that business. They also managed Pioneer Home in Orange City for several years. She was a faithful student of scripture. She enjoyed attending and leading the women's Bible study at Hull Christian Reformed Church and later at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She was a loyal friend and a faithful mother, and was fond of the role she played as Foster. Grandparent.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law and three daughters and sons-in-law, Roger and Lila Droog of Orange City, Linda and Lyle Klein of Sioux Center, Gwen and Del Groen of Greeley, Colorado, Becky and Rich De Groot of Orange City and Randy and Valerie Droog of Orange City; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on September 20, 1994; and a grandson.
