Dennis Bickley Sr.
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Dennis Bickley Sr., 64, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness with cancer.
Services were held Sept. 24 at Greer-Wilson Funeral Home in Phoenix. Graveside services Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, local arrangements are under the direction of Memoral Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Dennis Keith Bickley Sr. was born Sept. 4, 1943, in Sanusky, Ohio. He grew up and worked most of his life in Ohio. He moved to Stockton, Calif, in 1988, where he drove truck and eventually became an instructor and manager for Western Pacific Truck School. In 2005, he moved to Phoenix, where he was an instructor and truck driver until November 2006.
He married Debra Jo Van Roekel of Phoenix, a Sioux Center native, on May 6, 2006.
He then retired but continued working as a security guard. He was certified as an instructor and as an associate director in private post secondary education.
He also owned his own trucking company, Silver Fox trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Debra (Van Roekel) Bickley of Phoenix; two sons and their
wives, Denny and Carolyn Bickley of Anchorage, Alaska, and Rodney and Patricia Bickley of Anacortes, Wash.; and seven grandchildren, Savannah Marie of Anchorage, Jacob Ryan, Tiah Marie, Tiffany Ann, Loren Bickley, Ariana Rose and Garrett Austin of Anacortes.
