Services for the late Gerrit Van Es were held, yesterday, April 27, 1955-at First Reformed Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander in charge of the services.

Mr. Van Es. 64, died early Sunday morning April 24, 1955. He was operated upon Friday for appendicitis.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nellie Van Es, his wife, a son, Jack Van Es of Newkirk and
two daughters, Mrs. Ivan Muilenburg of Orange City and Mrs. Lawrence Zicaloose

Orange City - Gt. Van Es passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning at 2 o'clock at Grossman hospital where he had undergone surgery Friday for ruptured appendix. Mr. Van Es was born on Feb. 15, 1891 on a farm north of Alton and lived in this vicinity practically all his life, except when he served with the army in the States and overseas in World War I.

He was married to Reka Top of Newkirk on Feb. 27, 1919. They were the parents of three children: Nelvina, Mrs. Lawrence Zicafoose of Borup, MN; Winifred, Mrs. Ivan Muilenburg of O.C.; and Gerald of Newkirk. There are eight grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife and children are his mother, Mrs. Gt. Van Es, Sr. of O.C.; one brother, Dick Van Es of O.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Conrad Jacobs of O.C. and Mrs. Harold Pas of Arlington, VA. His father preceded him in death in 1928 and his sister, Mrs. John Jacobs, died 13 years ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Ref. Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating.

A military service was held at the O.C. cemetery where interment was made. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Pas and Nancy arrived from Arlington on Tuesday to attend the funeral.
