Myra L. Maynard, 90, of Storm Lake, formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake. Funeral service was at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with the Rev. Rick Kargard of the Associated Church officiating. Burial followed in the Maynard family plot at the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden.

Myra Lillian Maynard was born January 16, 1915 in Hawarden, the daughter of Archibald and Lillian (Wallace) Maynard. Myra's grandparents were some of the first early merchants in Hawarden back in the late 1880's. Education was important to the Maynard family and Myra graduated from the Hawarden High School in 1932. She attained a BA Degree in Music Education in 1937. Myra taught music in Cooper, Iowa, Urbana, Mich. and from 1943-1944 was the Band and Vocal Instructor in Crystal Falls, Mich. She later ran a clothing store. She was a long time member of PEO.

Myra was involved in an accident, which later affected her life, making it necessary to live in a care facility. She lived with her mother until 1980, at which time she moved to Spectra Health Care Center in Storm Lake. She moved to the Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake in 1997.

She is survived by nephews and nieces. Myra was preceded in death by two brothers, Proctor Maynard and Archibald Maynard, and a sister, Mary E. Maynard.
