OBITUARIES – A. J. TE GROTENHUIS.
A.J. Te Grotenhuis died Monday morning at 3 o'clock at the age of 82 years. He had been ill only a short time. He was born October 14, 1858, at Varseveldt [*no, in Aalten], the Netherlands and came to Sioux county, Iowa in 1881. Here he was united in marriage to Grada Hartemink, who preceded him in death on July 1, 1936. They lived on a farm northwest of Orange City until 1914, when they retired and moved to town. Five children were born to this union, two of which preceded their father in death. One daughter, Dena, died at the age of 14 months and an other daughter, Dena, Mrs. Wm. Nibbelink, passed away at the age of 22 years. In 1937, he was married to Minnie Van Beek. Mr. Te Grotenhuis was a member of the First Reformed church and served as elder many years. Survivors include his widow, 3 children: Hattie, Mrs. Hubert Schuller, Cynthia, Mrs. Herman Nibbelink, and Gerrit all of Orange City; 23 grand-children, 18 great grandchildren and 2 sisters. Mrs. H. Vermeer of Sioux Center and Mrs. M. Huisman of Orange City. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon, Thursday, at 1 o'clock at the home and at 1:30 in the First Reformed church with Rev. Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment will be made in the Orange City cemetery
