Joe De Wit, 91, of Rock Valley died Wednesday, November 30, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 3, at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

DeWit was born August 6, 1903 in Downs, Kansas, the son of John & Marjorie (Boxum) DeWit. He moved with his family to the Rock Valley area in 1917. He married Annette Kooima, January 7, 1926, in Rock Valley. The couple farmed in the Rock Valley area. She died January 6, 1955. He married Jeanette (Dirksen) Brands, February 3, 1961, in Rock Valley. They farmed until moving into Rock Valley in 1975.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John "Dutch" DeWit and his wife Lenora of Rock Valley; two daughters and their husbands, Florence & William "Bud" Termaat of Rock Valley and Mildred & Herman Dirksen of Rock Valley; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Irene & Don Ter Haar of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Thelma & Gilbert Aberson of Orange City; a brother Henry DeWit of Inwood; 12 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Bert & Everett; and four sisters, Jennie De Groot; Mary De Wit, Hattie De Wit and Anne Kooima.
