Jeanette DeWit, 92, of Rock Valley died Friday, March 28, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m., Tuesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiating.

Mrs. DeWit was born August 7, 1910 in the Netherlands. Her family came to the U.S. in 1912. She was the second oldest of 14 children. She married Jacob Brands on September 9, 1931. He died December 31, 1936, and she moved to Rock Valley shortly after his death. She married Joe DeWit on February 3, 1961. The couple farmed north of Rock Valley before retiring into Rock Valley. He died November 30, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Irene & Don Ter Haar of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Thelma & Gilbert Aberson of Orange City; one step-son and his wife, John & Lenora DeWit of Rock Valley; two step-daughters and their husbands, Florence & Bud Termaat and Mildred & Herman Dirksen, all of Rock Valley; three sisters, Dorothy Anema of Artesia, CA; Tiller & her husband Fred Anema of Sanborn, and Hermina and husband Raymond Jansma of Seal Beach, CA; two brothers and their wives, Art & Minnie Dirksen, and Bill & Ila Dirksen, all of Ripon, CA; two sisters-in-law, Tillie Dirksen of Seal Beach, CA, and Catherine and husband Russ Douma of Ripon, CA; 20 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Mike, Dick, John, Herman, Jake and Henry; and two sisters, Nellie De Ruyter and Christina Jansma.
