Anthony Pennings Dies Wednesday.
Anthony Pennings, 19, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning, August 14, in his room at Emersonian House, Holland, Mich. The sad news was telephoned here yester-day morning by Dr. Wichers, president of Hope College. According to Dr. Jacob Heem-stra, president of Northwestern Junior College here, Dr. Wichers said that young Pennings had worked on a late shift Tuesday night for an ice cream concern in Holland. He had then retired seemingly in perfect health. Nothing was known of his death when other boys in the house left the place Wednesday morning. Anthony was discovered dead in bed at 10:30 his death evidently from natural causes as there was no evidence of foul play, according to Dr. Wichers. He had been dead 5 or 6 hours when found. Young Pennings was the son of Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Pennings, missionaries to Kuwait, Persian Gulf. He made his home with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Pennings of near Orange City. In 1937 he graduated from Northwestern Classical Academy, the valedictorian of his class. He then entered Hope College where he studied during the school year. This summer he was working for the ice cream company in Holland. Funeral services for Anthony Pennings will be held at one p.m. Saturday at the Wm. Pennings home and at 2 p. m. from the First Reformed church with Rev. Jacob Heemstra in charge.
