OBITUARIES - MRS. K. TIMMER.
Mrs. K. Timmer, 85, passed away at her home on Friday, February 3 at 11 o'clock a.m., from complications following a slight stroke which she suffered on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Timmer, nee Geertje Keen, was born in Gees, Province of Drenthe in The Nether-lands on December 25, 1853.
She came to America in 1881, locating in Sioux County and has lived in or near Orange City ever since that time. In 1882 she was united in marriage to Geert Van Engen, who preceded her in death on April 27, 1894. Four children were born to this union, namely: Alice, Mrs. A. Lyzen; John, Harmina, Mrs. H. Ketel and Gerrit. In 1895 she was united in marriage to Klaas Timmer. To this union were born two children, Gertrude, Mrs. H. G. Den Hartog, and John. Mr. Timmer died on January 3, 1910. The deceased is survived by her six children, 37 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Den Hartog home and 1:30 at the First Christian Reformed church with Dr. R. Bronkema officiating.
