Services for Johanna E. DeWit, 80, of Canby was on Monday, October 3, at First United Presbyterian Church in Canby, Minnesota, with Pastor Dan Billings officiating. Burial was in the Canby Cemetery. She died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 29, at Valley City, North Dakota.

DeWit was born on February 20, 1914 in Sioux Center to Henry K. & Lena (Boeyink) Eggink. She was baptized at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, and was confirmed at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She and Julius DeWit were married on June 21, 1940, at Sioux Center. They lived in Binghamton, New York; Cortland, New York; Rochester, Minnesota; and Canby, Minnesota. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Canby. She was past president of the Presbyterian Women and active in circle.

She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Audrey Carlson, of Park Rapids, Minnesota; her son, Joe, and his wife, Susan of Edina, Minnesota; grandchildren, Paul & Jill Carlson, and Sarah & Emily DeWit; one brother, Henry G. Eggink, and his wife, Lucile, of Sioux Center; one sister, Mabel Vandebrake and her husband Clarence of Portland, Oregon; a step-brother, Peter Rons and his wife Johanna, of Scottsdale, Arizona and a step-sister, Gertrude Pereboom of Hawarden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one step-sister.
