OBITUARIES - HENRY SCHOLTEN.
Henry Scholten, 72, who had a paralytic stroke two weeks ago, died Wednesday April 26. Mr. Scholten did not regain consciousness. Mr. Seholten was born in The Netherlands and came with his parents to Chicago at the age of three years and grew up to manhood in Chicago. Later he, with his parents and brothers and sisters, moved to the farm north of Alton and since that time has made his home in this vicinity. He was married to Miss Anna Ketel in 1899. To this union nine children were born of which seven survive. Mrs. Scholten died in 1930. The children left to mourn his death are Gerrit and Mrs. Anthony Aberson, Alton; Lawrence of Orange City; Marie, Leona, Elroy and Marlys at home. There are also eight grandchildren and two brothers Herman of Alton, Will of Orange City and one sister Mrs. C. Wissink of Orange City.
Funeral Alton services were held Saturday in the Van Engelenhoven officiating
The Sioux Center Capital, Thursday, May 4, 1939 Sioux Center, Iowa.
