GESINK, TEGROTENHUIS

ENGELBERT GESINK. SR.
Engelbert Gesink. sr., 76, passed away at his home near Orange City Thursday, October
26, at 2:30 o'clock in in the morning. He was born in Var(*s)seveld, the Netherlands, on April 3, 1883. He was married on May 16, 1895, to Hendrika te Grotenhuis, and to them were born 10 children. The family came to America in 1913 and settled on a farm near Alton, where they lived for 21 years. They then moved to a farm near Orange City, where they have lived for 10 years. Survivors are his wife and children, Ben, Gerrit, Johanna (Mrs. Henry Pennings), all of Orange City, William of Maurice, Gertrude (Mrs. Bert Ter Horst) of Ireton, Christena at Pine Rest Hospital, Cutlerville, Minn., Egelbert, and the Misses Bertha and Minnie at home and Harriet (Mrs.
Arie Noteboom) of Alton. A sister, Mrs. John Vos, preceded him in
death. Another sister, Mrs. John Rutgers resides in Sheldon. There are
33 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held in the First Christian Reformed Church
Monday afternoon with Dr. R. Bronkema officiating, assisted by Rev. F.
Schuurman. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Attending the
funeral from away were Mr. and Mrs. John Donkersloot of Sanborn, Mr.
and Mrs. Cornie Runia of Melvin, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rutgers of
Worthington. Minn., Rense Dykstra of Sibley, Mrs. Abe Van Langen, Mrs.
Dick Weg and Evert Rutgers, all of Bigelow, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John
Rutgers of Sheldon and Mrs. Henry Te Velde of Brooten(*?), Minn.
