DICK BONNEMA.
Dick Bonnema, 35, died suddenly early Monday morning at the home of his mother, Mrs. Peter Bonnema, in Sioux Center. He had not felt well for a few days and suffered a heart attack which caused his death. At the age of five years the young man had a terrible accident, which deprived him of eyesight. At the time the family lived on the Wesselink farm, 1 mile south and 1¾ miles east of Sioux Center. The little boy, while playing in the yard, fell on a knife blinding himself. He was sent to the Vinton School for the blind where he learned the piano tuning trade. He was a musician, also. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, Ben Bonnema of Orange City and George Bonnema of Steen, Minn., and the following sisters: Mrs. Henry Kleinwolterink, Mrs. Alice Duistermars, Mrs. Gerrit Grotenhuis, all of Orange City, Mrs. John Kruisenga, Mrs. John Oliver, and Mrs. Neal Van Muyden of Sioux Cenotr. He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Mrs. George Katze of Estelline, South Dakota. Funeral services are being held today (Thursday) in the Central Reformed church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Mr. Meegns [*Meengs] officiating.
The Sioux County Capital, Thursday, Jan. 14, 1937 Orange City, Iowa.
