INWOOD, Iowa — Dora Visser, 99, of Inwood and formerly of Rock Valley, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1993, at the Canton-Inwood Hospital, in Canton, S.D.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with the Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery Rock Valley. Visitation will be at noon today, with the family 7 to 8 p.m., at the Porter Funeral in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Visser was born Nov 3, 1894, in Viyfhuis, Friesland, the daughter of Harry and Agnes (Vander Meer) Buma. She came to the United States and the Northwest Iowa area in 1903. She married Gerrit A. Visser Feb. 25, 1915, near Inwood. The couple farmed near Rock Rapids for three years before moving to a farm near Inwood. They retired in 1944 and moved to Rock
He died April 18, 1972. She remained in Rock Valley until moving to the Fellowship Village at Inwood in September 1991.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Elmer and Lucy Visser of Inwood; three daughters and their husbands, Agnes and Rev. Gerrit Boerfyn of Ripon, Calif., Klazina and Clarence Vander Sanden of Rock Valley, and Doris and Ken Brower of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Lance Tilstra; four brothers, Adam, Dave, Fred and Sam Buma; three sisters, Mrs. (Alice) Steenhoven, Mrs. Gerrit (Clara) Van Beek and Helen Buma and an infant brother and infant sister.
