Was 72 Years of Age and is Survived by Two Daughters and Six Sons

Funeral Held Today W. A. Henry, for the past sixteen years a resident of this vicinity, .died very suddenly about 8:15 Monday-evening at the home of his son, Chas. Henry, several miles southeast of Hawarden.

For years he had suffered an occasional attack of' rheumatism but usually recovered within a reasonably short period and of late had been in fair health and there was no, indication that the end of his earthly life was so near at hand. He attended both church services. and Sunday School on Sunday and on Monday afternoon attended the funeral of his neighbor, the late Mrs James C. Lush at the Methodist church. Returning home late in the afternoon he went about helping with the lighter chores, but suffered an acute, attack of rheumatism affecting his heart so seriously that he collapsed on the floor of the home: He was assisted to his bed but felt a premonition that the end was drawing near and insisted upon being allowed to kneel beside his bed and offer a prayer to God. After returning to his bed again he scarcely spoke and passed peacefully away, a half hour later,

The funeral was. held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist church with the pastor, the Rev. J. W. La Grone, in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.

William Amos Henry was born in York county, Pa., March 3,,1854,; and died at the home of his 'son, Chas. Henry, near Hawarden April 5, 1926, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 2 days. He grew to manhood in his native ,state and county and on Noy 17, 1878 was united in marriage with Sevilla J. Runk, also of, York county, Pa. Thirteen children were born to this union, nine sons and four daughters. Of these, two daughters and three sons preceded him in deaths Mr. and Mrs. Henry lived in the east, until about sixteen years ago when they Came to Hawarden. They lived one year on a farm southeast of Hawarden and then-moved onto a farm in Union county, S. D., where they lived for two years during which time Mrs. Henry died and Mr. Henry then moved to Hawarden and has since lived in this community.

He is survived by his eight children, two daughters Mrs. C. A. Marshall of Hawarden and Mrs. Ira Shoop of Elk Point and six sons, Charles Wilbert, George Washington, Herbert Warren, Frank Walter, Raymond Leroy and Lawrence Wilmer. All of the sons reside in this vicinity except Raymond l., who lives at Wake Forest. N.C. There are also twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren and Three great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. D. E. Schuetz of Hawarden, and two brothers, Jerry Henry of Hawarden and Gideon Henry of Erie City PA.

Mr. Henry was a deeply religious nature and was a loyal member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Men’s Bible class in the Sunday School He was a very kind and generous friend and a neighbor who was highly esteemed. He was a great lover of flowers and took unusual delight in both raising them in many of varied colors and kinds and in distributing them among his neighbors and friends, His highest pleasure seemed to have been achieved when he cheered some one of. his neighbors. with a bouquet of rare fragrance. The members of his family have the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement
