Obituary: Hawarden, IA—Donna M. Miller, 83, of Hawarden passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday with family present beginning at 6:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery.Donna Miller was born April 20, 1928 to Martin and Ella (Degen) Treiber where they lived on a farm near Hawarden. After the death of her father in 1930, Donna and her mother moved into Hawarden until 1944 when they moved to Omak, Washington near Donna’s two brothers and sisters. Upon graduating from high school in Omak, Donna and her mother returned to Hawarden in 1946. On June 12, 1949 Donna married Robert Miller. They farmed west of Hawarden and in the McNally area. In the early 1950’s they moved back to the family farm where Robert was raised near Rock Valley. In 1962, they purchased a farm north of Hawarden, where they remained until Robert’s death on August 30, 1983. Following his death, Donna moved into Hawarden. She was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a part of Ladies Aid and made baptismal napkins. Donna also enjoyed knitting and baking. She was a wonderful cook especially when she made chicken and potatoes.
Donna is survived by her 4 children, Sandy (Terry) Edgington, Marsha (Chuck) Brooks, Larry Miller, and Donnie (Janelle) Miller all of Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; brothers, Harold and Ray; sisters, Luella, Viola, Velda, and Florence; and a grandson, Baby Boy Brooks.
