Obituary: Hawarden, IA—Vivian D. Bronkhorst, age 81, of Hawarden, IA died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at her residence. Private family service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery.
Vivian was born July 31, 1930 at Alton, IA to Nick and Jennie (Van Laar) Marra. She grew up in Alton and graduated from Alton High School. Vivian married Dick Bronkhorst on August 14, 1953. They lived in Cleveland, OH, Hudson, SD, and Sheldon, IA before moving to Hawarden in 1958. Dick died March 28, 1984.
Vivian is survived by her four sons, Rick, Ron (LeeAnn), Curt (Carol) and Dennis (Robin) all of Hawarden; one grandson, Dirk; three granddaughters, Heather, Caitlin, and Cristine; two step-grandsons, Tom and Jason Fertig; one step-granddaughter, Tara Fertig; one step-great-granddaughter, Shelby Fertig; and two sisters, Olva Hollinga and Gloria De Jong both of Orange City, IA.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband Dick; her parents; five brothers; and one sister.
