Sioux Center News, October 21, 1992

Joanna Ver Hoef, 78, of Sioux Center died Friday, October 16, at the Sioux Center hospital.

Services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 19, at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Dennis Wilcox officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center.

The former Joanna Bloemendaal was born December 3, 1913 in Orange City to Ralph & Alice (Cleveringa) Bloemendaal. She lived her youth and graduated from Northwestern Academy in Orange City. She married Clarence Ver Hoef, June 3, 1937 in Orange City. He died August 21, 1992.

She was a member of Central Reformed Church, the Senior Saints, Women's Circle, RCW and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol and her husband Bernard Karssen of Springfield, Missouri; one son, Dan and his wife Donna Ver Hoef of Sioux Center; a brother, Paul Bloemendaal of California; three sisters, Hilda De Vries of Ireton, Theresa Dykstra of Sioux City and Rose Dykstra of Maurice; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph A. Bloemendaal, Dr. Edwin Bloemendaal and (in infancy) Jacob R. Bloemendaal.
