Mrs. Herman VerHoef died in Boyden on December 25, 1941, at the age of 79 years. Death was due to a heart attack. Mrs. Ver Hoef was born in Gelderland, Holland in 1862 and came to this country 70 years ago. She has been living in Boyden for the past 15 years and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Carrie Herweynen.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 29, 1941, at the Reformed Church in Boyden with Rev. J. Brink officiating. Interment was at Sanborn.

Mrs. Ver Hoef's husband preceded her in death. Four sons and four daughters survive namely, Walter of Sanborn, John of Spring Valley, Jim of Sanborn, Bill of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Anna Dettmers, Mrs. Carrie Herweynen, Mrs. John Casmier and Mrs. Jennie Stryk all of Boyden.
