John Ver Hoef, 85, resident of the Pioneer Home in Orange City for the past 8 years passed away Monday, Feb. 5, at 12:30 p.m., he suffered from arterial sclerosis and became ill with congestion of the lungs over a week ago. His son, Percy Ver Hoef of Spencer came to get him Friday and from there he was later taken to the hospital at Spencer where he died Monday. Surviving are his children: Walter of Bakersfield, CA; William of Archer; Ben of Moville; Ina (Mrs. Jno. Timmer) of Denver, CO; Percy of Spencer; Kathryn (Mrs. C. Kennedy) of Arnolds Park, and John of Spencer. There are 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 1 brother, Jas. VerHoef of Sioux Center and 1 sister, Mrs. Jennie Diekevers of Boyden. Mrs. Ver Hoef preceded him in death in 1937. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Pioneer Home and at the First Ref. Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating.
