Funeral services were held at the G. Dykstra home on Tuesday for Mr. J. Wassenaar. He was born in the Netherlands June 2, 1836. In 1860[?] he was married. He came to America in 1869 and located at Pella, Ia., later coming to Orange City. His wife died a few years ago. They are survived by four children, Peter of Maurice, Mrs. J. Coleman and Mrs. Gerrit Klay of Orange City, and Nic of Michigan.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Wassenaar, Johannes Juire, born 2 June 1836, Dronryp Fries[land], Neth[erlands], married 21 May 1859, died 21 March 1919, buried West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City. His wife was Tryntje Pieters Leen (obituaries January 1915).
