William Visser, 85, of Sioux Center, died March 14, 2000 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City after a lengthy illness. He was born to Teunis & Elizabeth (Akkerhuis) Visser on
September 8, 1914 in Sioux Center, I A . He attended schools in Sioux County & Grand Rapids, MI. He worked as a farm laborer until he married Theresa Roubos on August 20, 1941. They began their life together farming near Maurice, IA for 10 years, then moved to a farm near Middleburg, IA, where they farmed until retirement in 1980. William & Theresa continued to live in the country until 1985 when they moved to Sioux Center. William was a life long member
of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center where he professed his faith in Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years; four children: Judy & Stan Yates of Sioux Center, Marlyn & Esther of Orange City; Wanda & William Vande Kopple of Grand Rapids, MI, and Kathy & Ken Klein of Sioux Center; 13 grandchildren: Orlin & Amy Punt, William & Cathy Punt, Lyle & Teresa Hoekstra, Mick & Sherry Visser, Corlin & Rachael Feikema, Shari, Rebecca & Valerie Visser, Jonathon, Joel & Jason Vande Kopple, Kristopher & Kimberly Klein; three step-grandchildren: Barry & Teresa Vande Pol, Dan & Cynthia Reid, Allen & Lisa Vanden Brink; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers Gerrit & Katherine and Peter & Muriel all of Sioux Center; one sister, Adrianna Kots of Birnamwood, WI; and one sister-in-law: Gertrude Visser of Sioux Center.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert & John; four grandchildren Cheryl & Brian Punt, Rick & Lisa Visser, great-grandson Anthony Hoekstra and step-granddaughter Maria Lynn Yates
