Rites Held For Mrs. Holtdorf Ireton, la.
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Holtdorf, 79, who died Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the LeMars hospital, were held at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the St. Paul's Lutheran church Friday afternoon, Rev. Paul Fredrichs officiating.
Emma Wilhemine Emilie, daughter of August Karnitz and Johanna Sieglo, was born June 10, 1873 at Mahitowac, Wis. In early infancy she was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
On February 7, 1890, she married Albert Holtdorf at Brussels, Wis. They came to Sioux county and made their home on a farm near Maurice, later moving to the French farm southwest of Ireton
In 1911 the family moved to Tiopa, Minn. They returned in the spring of 1913 to their farm
northeast of Ireton, where they remained until they retired from active farm life in the spring of 1920.
She was preceded in death by her husband on February 6, 1932 and daughter Lillian at the age
of four years and another, daughter in infancy. Survivors include six children: Clarence, Albert,
Mrs. Otis Wandling and Myrtle of Ireton, George of Holland, Minn., and Ben of Sioux City: six
grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Ladies Aid and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Bertram Unit No. 276 of Ireton.
