Rites Held Here For Mrs. Holten
Rev. C. E. Custer conducted a brief service at the Barnard Funeral home Sunday at 2 o'clock
for Mrs. Cora Wade Holten, 85, former Haiwarden resident who died Thursday in a hospital at El Dorado, Kan.
Mrs. Holten, one of this area's early day residents, who for a time was employed in the post office at Calliope, was born November
19, 1871, at Strawberry Point, la. Her family lived on a farm in Union county, S. D.,before, moving here. She was married to Ed Holten, who died many years ago.
She and her mother moved to Sioux City in the early 1920's, where they lived until her mother's
death at the age of 102.
Survivors- include six nieces Mrs. Isadore Sed-gwick and Mrs. Ben Cartwrighit of Eldorado, Kan.
Mrs. Hugh Itingsbury of Sioux City, Mrs. Elsie Kent of Des Moines, Mrs. Edith Hawsley of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Jessie Pfenning of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services were held at El Dorado Saturday following which Mrs. Sedgwick accompanied the body here. Others attending the services hero were Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kingsbury and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Carbwright. Burial was at Grace Hill cemetery.
