Rites Here Monday For Mrs. C. Holles
Funeral services for Mrs.Catherine Holles, 74, who died Thursday morning at 11:30 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, LeMars, following a long illness, were held at St. Joseph Catholic church, Granville, Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock. The Solemn Requiem Mass was read by Rev. N. J. Becker, celebrant, Rev. E. E. Apt, deacon, and Msgr. Zeno Relsing, sub-deacon.
Catherine Gaul was bom Dec. 28, 1888, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gaul, at Alton, IA. Sept. 5, 1916, she was married to Mike Holles at St. Mary's Church, Alton, and they began farming north of Granville, where she has since resided. She was a member of the Christian C. D. of America. Mr. Holles passed away Jan. 9, 1949.
Surviving are three sons, Clarence and Ambrose of Granville, Robert of Red Oak, Iowa, one daughter Dorothy at home; 13 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Rose Croat of Adrian, Minn,; (Margaret) Mrs. Emil Hansen of LeMars; six brothers, John and Pete of Granville, Ferd of Hawarden, Martin of LeMars, Fred of Sioux City, Nick of Alton.
Preceding her in death were her husband, one son Elmer, parents, 2 sisters, (Anna) Mrs.
Ernest Kern, (Mary) Mrs. John Vortherms, two brothers, Anton and Lambert Gaul.
Rosary was recited in Spalding Hall Sunday evening. Interment in St. Joseph cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edwln Penning, George Callenius, Loren Runger, John Nicbel, Robert Fischer, LeVern Pottebaum
Numerous friends and relatives attended from the nearby towns, also eastern Iowa, Minnesota, and other places.
