Mrs. Dena Vellinga, 90, Orange City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Dena was born Oct. 26, 1893, in Sioux County, the daughter of John Reinders and Bertha Hofmeyer Reinders. On Feb. 15, 1911 she married Henry Vellinga at Carnes. They farmed in Sioux County, retiring to Orange City about 30 years ago. Mr. Vellinga passed away April 20, 1972. About 1975, Mrs. Vellinga became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, transferring to the Heritage House Nursing Home of Orange City in March of this year.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City and a former member of the church's Dorcas Circle.

Survivors include six children: Mrs. Roy (Bertha) Vander Stoep of Orange City; Rodney Vellinga of Orange City; John Vellinga of Sioux City; Mrs. Ralph (Wilma) Klopfenstein of Pittsfield, Mass.; Harvey Vellinga of Marshalltown and Robert Vellinga of State Center; 27 grandchildren and four brothers and sisters, Joe Reinders of Orange City; Alvin Reinders of Bellflower, CA; Mrs. Andrew (Jennie) Vogel of Orange City and Mrs. John (Gladys) Gerritsen of Orange City.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Vellinga was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Nell) Mouw in August of 1981, and Mrs. Marion (Helen) Korver in February of 1977; two grandsons, Steven Vellinga and Herman Mouw and four brothers and sisters, Mrs. Hattie Foreman Brouwer, Gerrit J. Reinders, Mrs. Hubert (Gertrude) Schuller and Edward Reinders.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the First Reformed Church with the Rev. Cecil Martens and the Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
