Mark D. Vellinga, 35, of Marathon, Florida, formerly of Ireton died Monday, December 7, of injuries suffered in an auto accident.

Services were Monday at Ireton Christian Reformed Church, the Rev. Wybrin Oord officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hills Cemetery at Ireton.

Vellinga was born April 28, 1952, in Sioux City. He attended West Sioux High School at Hawarden and joined the Navy in May 1969. He was employed at the Sioux City Country Club and worked as a chef at Hawk's Cay Resort at Marathon.

He was a member of the American Legion Post of Ireton.

Survivors include his mother, Christine Vellinga, of Ireton; and a sister, Diane Vellinga of Sioux City.
