Evert Vellinga of Orange City, passed away Tuesday, July 3, at noon in the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City after suffering a 2 months illness with cancer for which he underwent surgery at the hospital 2 weeks ago. Mr. Vellinga was born at Pella, Iowa on August 7, 1873. He was married to Arta Mouw, June 24, 1896. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 1943. They had no children. Surviving are his sisters: Mrs. Jake Van Rooyen of Newkirk; Mrs. Gt. Hofmeyer of Orange City; Mrs. Jno. Calsbeek of Everson, WA; Mrs. Albert Wassink of California; and Mrs. Henry Vogel of Lynden, WA. One sister, Mrs. Hannes Van Oort died 2 years ago. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 6, in the Van Etten Funeral Home and in the First Reformed Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City cemetery.
