Gerrit Van Sloten, 81, of Hull, died Friday, July 26, 1991 at the Rock Valley hospital.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Carl Czirr and Rick Christy officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Mr. Van Sloten was born Oct. 11, 1909, at Hull, the son of John & Nettie (Van Maanen) Van Sloten. He married Gertrude Pollema, March 10, 1933, at Hull. They farmed at Perkins until 1942, when they moved to a farm northwest of Hull. In 1975 they retired into Hull.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church and the adult Sunday school class.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Winifred Van Veldhuizen of Rock Valley; three sons and their wives, John M. & Coreen of Rock Valley, Norman & Betti of Alton, Iowa; and Gary & Barb of Doon, Iowa, 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Hawarden and William of Sioux Center; and three sisters, Mrs. Ted (Coba) Boersma of Doon, Mrs. Herman (Henrietta) Olivier of Bellflower, CA, and Mrs. Edward (Geraldine) Klomp of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edwin Van Veldhuizen; a grandchild; three brothers, William, John and Henry; and an infant sister.
